Hello, lovely...

Welcome to my site where I explore topics on life, love, culture and everything in between. I hope you find something here that inspires you, that makes you laugh, that gives you hope, or that helps you reflect.  Have a nice stay and come back often!

On Failure...

On Failure...

For as long as I can remember, my biggest fears have been snakes, burning to death in a house, drowning, and failure.  Failure usually gets top billing but I listed it last for effect only. My relationship with failure is best categorized as "it's complicated."

This has been a year of taking risks.  As a naturally risk-averse person, I'm waaaaaay outside my comfort zone.  My first risk of the year was going public with Mind of Meaux.  I chewed on it for months before finally pulling the trigger and throwing caution to the wind.  Week after week, I spent hours thinking about how to raise the bar with a new post.  Most of those hours, I thought about whether this little "experiment" would be a flop.  And just beyond those moments when I contemplated failure, I experienced moments of excitement - excitement that there would be a tomorrow and that even if no one reads one word, at least I took the risk and made this little dream a reality.

You see - failure is something that folks fear but hopefully come to appreciate.  It has the power to hold you back and if you're lucky, maybe it keeps you moving forward.  In my case, I've embraced the "moving forward" concept. The "falling-on-your-face-just-so-you-know-you-can-get-up concept".  The "scared-but-hopeful" concept.  In many ways, I feel that I am holding on to life and running like I stole it hoping not to get to the end of the block and finding the joke is on me...

But nevertheless, I persist.....

Here's a quote that is driving me right now:
