Your At-Home Soundtrack
Lately I have embraced the sheer greatness of piping music throughout the house. There is a different feel to a home when music, rather than sounds from a television, wafts through the halls and into the intimate spaces of each room. Music has a different impact on me than television sounds which tend to distract me from what I'm doing. On one day, I turned on Pandora at 8:00am and worked until the sun went down without even realizing time passed. It was the most productive and relaxed that I'd been in a long time.
My music of choice varies depending upon when I'm doing. While working or writing, I definitely opt for smooth jazz. It allows me to focus with something soothing in the background. These days I am loving listening to the Leslie Odom, Jr. channel on Pandora. His genre picks up everything from Ella Fitzgerald to Tony Bennett to Diana Krall which is all I need in life to work for hours on end. If I'm cleaning the house or straightening up, I blast old school hip-hop or R&B hits. If I just feel like dancing and drinking wine, it's Beyonce and Bruno Mars all day, every day. On Sundays, it is gospel music from the time the sun comes up until it's time to retire for the evening.
So what songs are you loving now? Do you have a favorite soundtrack for various home activities? If we caught you on candid camera dancing in your home alone, what would you be dancing to?
