Eating Without Consequences
The other night while eating a less-than-satisfying apple, I posed this question to my husband: "if you could eat anything right now with no consequences, what would it be?" We are in the midst of a lifestyle change (which is going well), but temptation or weaker moments do pop up from time to time. I find that thinking about the thing I most want at the moment (usually queso or french fries) typically does the trick and allows me to toe the line without driving a race car across it!
His answer: a whole pizza (boring)....
I gave it some thought - the longer I pondered, the more satisfied I felt just thinking and not acting on those thoughts. I analyzed this very deeply, you see - don't go with something basic. If you're going to have a faux cheat day, go for it! Indulge!
My conclusion: spaghetti carbonara with prawns (not shrimp - big.ass.prawns). GOD YES - the velvety goodness of the cream sauce with the crunch of the pancetta and freshness of the seafood topped with fresh basil and cracked pepper, all laying atop gorgeously prepared al dente pasta - yep, I would eat the HELL out of this dish. All for zero calories (in my dreams!).
Ok, back to this apple....
