A Snack Hack Worth Trying
I confess: I'm a snacker! Even worse- I'm a mindless snacker. During my recent 21 day transformation, I relied heavily on having healthy and well-portioned snacks on hand so that I would not get off track. I really enjoyed protein shakes which ended up tasting like milkshakes due to the perfectly blended mix of ice, almond milk and chocolate whey protein. Other than my daily shake, my other go-to snack was a gorgeous mason jar full of fresh strawberries and blueberries. Seems simple, but this very simple, tasty, and satisfying treat was not only low in calories (103.5 to be exact), but also provided key antioxidants and fiber that helped me meet my daily goals.
Here's what you need:
1/2 cup of blueberries
1/2 cup of strawberries
1 mason jar
A sprinkle of cinnamon (optional)
I tried the blueberries and strawberries alone for the first few days but then decided to add a sprinkle of ground cinnamon to give the snack the umph it needed to take it from good to great! In order to keep things even more interesting, I would pre-make the snacks (sans cinnamon which was added at the time of consumption) and store them in these fun mason jars. Not only did it make my refrigerator fun to peer into, but doesn't food just taste better when it comes out of a mason jar?!?!?! Of course it does! I hope you try this easy snack hack!
